After WWII, Kurt S. Adler, a soldier working with procurement in the U.S. army began exporting products to countries where there were severe shortages after the war. Once the world economy had recovered, his focus turned to the importation of Christmas decorations from Europe to the United States. Handmade angels from the East and West Germany quickly became extremely popular, along with mouth-blown Czech glass ornaments and Italian Christmas lights. Today, Kurt S. Adler is synonymous with opulently decorated American homes at Christmastime.
