Find the right rug
Choosing the right rug for your room and furniture can be tricky, which is why we've created a rug guide to make the process easier. The guide is divided into three main categories (Living room, bedroom, and dining room). Each category includes examples of both large and smaller rugs. You’ll also find examples of suitable sizes.
LIVING ROOM
Large rugs
With the right rug in the living room, you frame the space and create both warmth and harmony. In larger living rooms, a generously sized rug can unify the seating area and provide a sense of cohesion. Let all the furniture sit fully or partially on the rug to achieve a more cozy and inviting feel.
Small rugs
In smaller spaces, it’s often enough for the rug to extend just under the front legs of the sofa and out towards the coffee table – this creates balance without overwhelming the room. A small rug can make a big difference and enhance the character of the space. For example, a round rug beneath the coffee table can add a soft, inviting touch and works perfectly in an airy setup where armchairs and the sofa are freestanding. Small rugs are also a great option if you want to refresh the look without redesigning the entire room.
BEDROOM
Large rugs
Start each morning with the comfort of a warm, soft surface underfoot, while giving the room a cozy and thoughtfully styled feel. A large rectangular rug in the bedroom works beautifully placed either vertically or horizontally. It ties together the bed, nightstands, and other furnishings – creating a serene and cohesive atmosphere that whispers everyday luxury. You can either place the rug entirely under the bed or let it extend around it. A large round rug is also a way to soften the room’s often straight lines and angular furniture.
Small rugs
If you prefer a more airy feel, a smaller rug is a perfect choice. It works beautifully beside the bed, at the foot end, or in front of a wardrobe, offering a soft and welcoming touch when you get up in the morning. It adds a sense of luxury and coziness to the room, while also protecting the floor and softening sound—contributing to a more pleasant atmosphere. When choosing a large rug, a good rule of thumb is to let it extend at least 60 cm beyond the edges of the table, so that chairs can be pulled out easily without catching on the rug’s edge.
