    The photograph of Italian artist and actress Domiziana Giordano, Italian author Francesca Sanvitale, Dino Trappetti, and Umberto Terrelli “dining al fresco” on a terrace overlooking the waters off the coast of the island of Capri, Italy was taken by Slim Aarons in August 1980. The photograph captures a moment of relaxed elegance, as the four friends enjoy a leisurely meal in one of the most beautiful and exclusive locations in the world.

    Umberto Terelli was Italy’s premier costume maker, designer, and collector. Over the course of fifty years, he built a personal collection of more than 15,000 vintage garments while desig- ning for legendary opera and cinema stars. Dino Trappetti took over control of Sartoria Tirelli and the collection upon Umber-to’s death in 1990.

    The photograph captures the essence of Italian culture, with its emphasis on food, wine, and socializing. It also reflects the beauty and glamour of Capri, a destination favored by the rich and famous for its stunning scenery, luxurious accommodations, and relaxed lifestyle.
