A LIGHTING LEGACY
A story of light
Hudson Valley Lighting’s story dates back to the 1939 New York World’s Fair, where David’s grandfather, William Littman, was inspired by the then ground-breaking fluorescent lighting showcased at the fair. That inspiration became the starting point for the Littman family’s long-standing legacy in lighting.
What began as a garage operation grew, and in 1947 the family moved north to the Hudson River Valley. Nearly four decades later, in 1985, David Littman carried the legacy forward when, at just 23 years old, he founded Hudson Valley Lighting in Newburgh, New York.
AN INTERNATIONAL LIGHTING HOUSE
From family business to design house
Since its founding in 1985, Hudson Valley Lighting has grown far beyond its New York roots. Under David Littman’s leadership, the business evolved and was eventually complemented by renowned lighting brands such as Troy Lighting and Corbett Lighting. Later, Mitzi joined the group, bringing a younger, more playful take on decorative lighting.
Today, the brands are brought together under Hudson Valley Lighting Group, where the family’s long-standing lighting expertise lives on—while new ideas, collaborations and collections continue to shape the company’s future.
